How did we increase email opens by 24% and purchases by 22%?

During the 2015 holiday shopping season, we conducted a randomized A/B test with a leading sporting goods discounter in their top selling category: Golf Shoes. 50% of the traffic to their category page for Shoes saw a version with the Golf Shoe Finder and 50% saw a version without.
After 3 weeks, the version WITH the Golf Shoe Finder had generated 22% more purchases.
